Pantone’s Color of the Year: ReStore Style

Pantone’s Color of the Year: ReStore Style

Color giant Pantone releases a “Color of the Year” each year as a “snapshot of what we see taking place in our global culture that serves as an expression of a mood and an attitude.” This year’s color is a beautiful, springy green.

Greenery Chip 205x300 Pantones Color of the Year: ReStore Style

According to Pantone’s website: “Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. This shift is reflected by the proliferation of all things expressive of Greenery in daily lives through urban planning, architecture, lifestyle and design choices globally.”

Expect it to show up on fashion runways, interior design blogs, and in other new products hitting the market. But guess what? You don’t have to wait, because we already have this trendy color all over the ReStores!

Now is the perfect time to hop on 2017’s color trend — heading into spring, with a fresh perspective. And you can spend less doing it at Habitat Wake ReStores! See below for some different ways to go about incorporating this fresh hue into your home.

1: Go all in

Just commit! These fully green pieces are a great example of how to commit to a color in a big way. But it doesn’t have to become the centerpiece of the whole room. The great thing about this year’s color is that it is still fairly neutral, so you don’t have to get nervous about putting a large piece like these in an already-established room.

2. Stick with subtle
Is understated more your style? Patterns are a wonderful, low-key way to introduce color. Pieces like this rug and chair are the perfect opportunity to bring in some of that spring Greenery into your home without feeling like you live in a jungle.

3. Choose bold, bright accents
You can go for a large, single-color piece or the subtle pattern route, but pops of color are also really fun and can easily fit into both a colorful home or a minimalist one. Unexpected color adds whimsy and makes a room feel intentional — like someone has paid attention to even small details.

4. Take advantage of small accessories
Easily switched up and fairly inexpensive, accessories are a great way to add trendy color to your home without overwhelming it (or fully committing if you’re not sold on Greenery). Wall art and table decor are all low-maintenance options, and easy to swap when Pantone releases its 2018 Color of the Year.
