Pre-owned Treasure Hunting is Retail Therapy!

I have a friend who dated a guy back in the days of big hair, leg warmers, and “Wham” (If you don’t remember Wham, then ask your mother) Although he had plenty of money, he’d turn food storage bags inside out and reuse them. He’d buy scratch n’ dent or used appliances, furniture, and kitchen and bath cabinets, sinks, etc., and he shopped at salvage stores. She thought he was cheap.

Well “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go“! Mr. Cheapskate was 25 years ahead of his time, and my friend was an (admittedly) chronic and wasteful discarder. She eventually discarded the boyfriend and embraced “frugality.”

Buying gently used or salvaged goods is useful and good—good for the buyer and good for the environment. Today, my friend is a recovering discard-aholic and enjoys regular visits to Habitat Wake’s ReStores for preowned treasures and retail therapy. Why pay full price, when you can purchase something at a great discount that supports a great cause? You feel good, you’re supporting the  mission of Habitat Wake, and you can brag to your friends on what a great deal you got (everyone loves a good deal!)

Shop Raleigh, Cary, Apex & Fuquay-Varina ReStores

With all the spring cleaning and garage sale items Wake County residents are encouraged to donate their unwanted materials to one of our four Habitat ReStores. Plus, as a thrifty buyer, now’s an ideal time to stop in for pre-owned treasures and retail therapy of your own. Replace that wobbling ceiling fan for around $20 or pick up new (yes, new) carpets and rugs for as little as $30 to $60 to freshen up your living area. And don’t forget your home’s outdoor space. We have plenty of tile and lumber in the Raleigh store so that you can update the deck you’ve been talking about. You can find furniture in all ReStore locations. Stop in often. Popular items can sell out fast.
